32. Volume: Philip McKernan Revisited: Dealing With Our Greatest Bully

With everything going on in the world, sometimes it’s helpful to go back to a good conversation with the new context of your surroundings and learn new lessons.

This is The Psychology of Entrepreneurship,

a highly produced audio documentary style, revealing series that follows Ronsley Vaz and his guests, as they strive to go inside & unravel the inner workings of the mind of an entrepreneur, artist, athlete, academic; to decipher what is the psychology of our decisions.

If you are an entrepreneur (BTW we consider that mothers are the original entrepreneurs) and would like to understand why we do certain things in certain situations, and if small changes in thinking can deliver massive amounts of results in success and happiness, then this podcast is for you.

In this special volume of The Psychology of Entrepreneurship, we’re doing a rebroadcast of Ronsley’s conversation with Philip McKernan that he had in Volume 01. After doing dozens of volumes, we realized a lot of what Philip said in Volume 01 can be tied into recent conversations with others.

So, who is Philip McKernan and why does he have so many insightful things to say? Philip founded One Last Talk in 2012, a live speaking platform that helps ordinary people tell their extraordinary stories. It’s based on his book of the same title which encourages people to ponder what they’d say to the world if it were their very last conversation.

In this volume, Ronsley ties in bits of conversation from previous guests like Dr Sherry Walling, Melissa Ambrosini, David Meltzer and James Whittaker. We re-explore what it means to be authentic, why playing it safe is never actually safe and how there’s no such thing as an overnight success.

Other Insights From This Volume:
  • Maybe Imposter Syndrome isn’t what you think
  • Why Philip has a father/son relationship with One Last Talk
  • How to ask yourself the right questions
  • How safety is driven by insecurity
  • Why it’s never really about “x”, and almost always about “y”
