How to develop content ideas that your customers will love

Content Marketing is one of the hungriest beasts in the world. Its never ending appetite for new and interesting content can swamp you with its demands.  A lot of business owners worry that they won’t be able to find enough topics for their needs. They hesitate to jump into a content oriented marketing plan to engage with customers. As a professional blogger, I can tell you there are so many ideas and concepts available to you – in every field imaginable. You will have no problem coming up with content ideas. There are some simple approaches you can take to generate content options for your business that will have you swimming in content.

Think about Your Customer

Thinking about your customer and what they want to know is a fantastic way of coming up with content ideas. What are they awake thinking about at 2am? Setting aside some time and running through a list of common questions you get asked by your customers is a gold mine of content ideas.  The key to content is thinking about the need you are trying to address and then putting that on paper. Once you have some core questions down, look at your list and then find topics that are closely related to each one of your questions. You will quickly find page after page of topics and ideas that you can develop your content around.

Social Media Is Your Friend

If you get stuck on what questions your customers are thinking about in your industry, then head over to social media and read what questions they are already asking. Social media is a fantastic source of content ideas that are industry specific AND serving your customer’s needs. In the digital age, there are so many avenues to investigate exactly what questions people are asking. You could fill your whole year up creating content from ideas you gleaned from reading the comments in social media. Popping into google and typing in ‘forum + your industry’ will return a list of forums that are used by your customers that will be filled with questions begging to be answered.

Create a Case Study

People come to your business because you’re the best at what you do, right? So why not show off those great skills? Create a case study on one of your customers to exhibit what you do AND how you do it. This type of content can create a great impact by showing off your skills as the expert you are. As well as educating your customers on how you operate and exactly the type of service they can expect from you.

These are some of the simple, yet highly effective ways you can generate a heap of content ideas. Not only for your social media posts and blog posts but also newsletter topics for your customers to immerse themselves in. Pay attention to your daily interactions and thinking about your customer and what they want and need. You can then quickly come up with a list of content ideas that will see you through the year ahead. You can tame the content beast!
