Dave Jackson is one of the OG’s of the podcasting world. Dave is not only an award-winning podcaster himself, but he’s a podcasting consultant, teacher, and the founder of the School of Podcasting. We couldn’t be more psyched that he will be making an appearance at WAP 2018!
Google ‘podcast coach’ and you’re bound to find Dave’s name sprinkled throughout the first page of results. Dave is on the Mt. Rushmore of podcasting. Before we go further into his history and why he’s someone to listen to, a quick word from Dave:
“In 2005 I said podcasting was going to change the world, and it is – and continues to on a daily basis. For me, podcasting is a mixture of everything I love. It’s creative, it’s technical, and its a way that I can help people. While I love playing the guitar, podcasting is my ultimate passion.”
A corporate trainer for more than 20+ years, Dave has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and was one of the early early early adopters of podcasting. Starting back in the primordial mist of 2005, Dave began the School of Podcasting, a podcast to teach other people how to podcast (did we say podcast enough times in that sentence?). The agenda here is super straightforward: teach people how to plan, launch, and grow a podcast. The whole thing is designed to show people the power of podcasting.
Dave’s show has been described by many as the most entertaining and unique of all the “Podcast About Podcasting” offerings out there. Dave is a master at “edutainment” and has been using analogies to quickly help people understand the nuances of podcasting for over a decade. He has that rare ability to explain complicated concepts and processes in an easy to comprehend way.
Dave is the proud author of the following books:
- Get Your Band out of the Basement and Keep Them out of the Asylum
- More Podcast Money
There are a lot of podcasting experts out there who claim to be able to teach you precisely how to build a flourishing podcast, some of them are great, others aren’t, but what sets Dave apart from all of these people is that he never loses sight of the practicalities.
Dave’s made most of the mistakes in the book and can help you avoid doing the same.
People also often pay lip service to things like caring and authenticity. Dave lives these values, and his longevity is a testament to how much he cares about the quality of information he puts out and also the relationships he builds.
Right, you may be thinking—that all sounds great, but everyone talks themselves up in this way. Well, true—but the thing is Dave has the results to back it up. His podcast about podcasting has been downloaded over 1.6 million times as of last year.
Dave is perhaps the perfect speaker for WAP 2018 because he is a master at laying out practical ‘how to’ tips and strategies. He’s someone with a wealth of knowledge, sharp teaching skills, and the charisma to hold people’s attention — and in the name of Amplifying, Influencing and Impacting there are few people more qualified to speak.
