Business Owner Success

Business owner success … do you know what that means?

Bigger is not always better. Faster is not always the best speed to operate under. Is business owner success even attainable? The tropical beach and a minimal work day are not everyone’s dream. Work towards your dreams. Be the person you want to be. Find your value and bring that forward. If you are taking the steps towards scaling your business and you’re hesitating, and you’re not sure why, ask yourself if this is what you want?

Pushing yourself to develop your business in a way that makes you uncomfortable isn’t the right choice to make. You got where you are today because you listened to your instinct. Just because you have been running your business successfully for several years doesn’t mean you need to start scaling it.

Where business owners definitions of success come from

Sometimes we get caught up in the support we get from our mentors and the network we have built around us. They share with you their experiences of growing their business and it sounds like the right step to make next. But you pause. You hesitate. Because it doesn’t feel right. This is the moment you need to think about why you’re moving in that direction. This is where you need to focus on what’s important to you. The next step you take needs to be right for you. Own the future you want for yourself, not the one others want you to have.

Ego metrics

It’s easy to get caught up in ego-metrics that push us towards a path that can bring bigger and better things into our businesses. It’s easy to get caught up in other people’s dreams about what they want to achieve and say ‘yes, I want that too’. But do you really? What do you really want?

Is growth what you really want or is it something that other people want for you? Don’t get defined by the dreams of other people. If you’re hesitating to grow your business and you’re not sure why, stop and think about what motivates you. What gets you out of bed every morning? What motivates you? Don’t let external forces define your happiness. Work towards the goals that are important to you.

Give your value to the world

It can be hard to recognise the value that you bring into the world. You can spend years working towards goals that are what others think are best for you. Reflect on what you bring and what is important to you. Working towards the success that is important to you is a path that will have the least resistance and will ultimately lead to your own happiness. Don’t be the change others want you to be, be the change you want to be.
