170. Author 2.0 Bali Retreat Session 3

Kate Reardon’s earliest and fondest memories around food

“I think I took it for granted and I didn’t have a good relationship with food. It was just something that I put in my body. I didn’t think about what it was. But now I have this deep appreciation for carrots growing up from the ground – that it took this long and it’s being graded. And how it’s mixed into a salad and then with a tomato. I just really appreciate it because it’s a luxury that we get to choose what we eat.”

Who would you love to have dinner with and where?

“I love this question. Frida Kahlo. She is one of my favourite artists of all time. She’s a Mexican artist. She was such an eccentric, unique, creative woman who really expressed herself in a way that was really out there for her time. She really pushed boundaries on so many different levels, like in politics and religion, and wasn’t afraid to be herself. There are so many questions I would love to ask her. I’ve loved her since I was a little girl. I would love to go to Spain, San Sebastian.”

Last meal on the planet

I think it would be a mango. That would be just so good. ”
