Audio Marketing – What Is It and Should Your Business Care?

“Audio marketing. What is that Ronsley?” Every time I say we are the world’s first audio marketing agency, I get this question. And the more I think about it, the more I realise that haven’t written about it. Well, apart from a whole book on the subject of audio marketing for business … 🙂 How can you create a marketing system that enables you to grow as a business with the least amount of effort? With audio marketing, thats how.

Audio Marketing = consumable

I believe that audio is the best way to reach people. It’s the medium where people will consume what you have to offer more regularly.

Everyone’s industry has major players whom they would love to be associated with, and there’s no better way to connect with them than by being consumable. Because if you’re consumable – if your brand is consumable – then people want to be associated with your brand so that theirs gets consumed along with yours.

When you think about the idea that we can think of something, say it aloud and be heard all around the world, it’s incredible. When you think about my podcast Bond Appetit, right now, there’s two-thirds of the countries on the planet listening to it. That makes for an exciting concept. The problem is, the word’s a little tainted. Business owners have this idea that podcasting is an activity done by those who have no better work to do. They don’t really appreciate what podcasting brings to the table.

Podcasting = tainted

I need you, as a reader, to think again about the word ‘podcasting’. Podcast listeners are loyal, they are engaged, they have disposable income and they are well-educated. Research says that sixty-three per cent of audio listeners buy from the host. They’re leaders and they’re decision-makers, and they’re at the forefront of all the trends. So creating a podcast yourself should be an idea you pay very, very close attention to.

Audio = multi-tasking

Audio is the only form of content where your audience are allowed to multi-task. They can consume it while they’re driving. While they go to the gym. While they mow their lawn. I actually have a listener in a paperless office. She’s an accountant and every week on a Friday, she scans all her paperwork. She likes doing it herself because, apparently, it’s very soothing, and while she’s doing it, she listens to my podcast.

So, you can do other things while you’re consuming the content. When you think about video and blogs and even books, you have to stop what you’re doing to consume them. There’s no way you can drive and watch a video or read a blog post, but you can listen to whatever you want. And if you subscribe to a podcast, or a piece of audio, it appears on your device – your mobile phone, or your iPod – as soon as the new episode is out. You’re not waiting for five o’clock on a Friday afternoon to listen to the content when it’s scheduled – you can listen to it whenever you want as many times as you want.

When you realise that, in 2016, all car models come with Apple or Google CarPlay, you start to see what an amazing platform it is for you and your business to be involved in.

Audio marketing = better business

  4. Those who are curious
  5. Those who want to improve their speaking and listening
