Christine’s earliest and fondest memories around food

“Well, interestingly I grew up very very poor. We had a family of six children and one foster child. So, we had a lot of mouths to feed. Like other cases with poor families, you generally get carbohydrates because that’s what you can afford. But the interesting thing was that even though we were struggling to put food on our table, we would have eggs for breakfast. That’s what we were taught was the right thing to do and what we thought we needed to do for a good weight. I don’t have a lot of fond food memories from when I was growing up because we didn’t tend to have a lot of food, although I can say that we did have boiled chicken on Sundays because it was cheap.”

Know more about Christine Cronau

Who would you love to have dinner with and where?

“Well, maybe Oprah Winfrey because I’d really like to talk to her about diet. I’d really like to talk to her because she has so much influence. And I think she has been in the same boat as so many other people. It’s about struggling to find solutions, struggling to find something that works. “

Last meal on the planet?

“I really enjoy eating but I have to say one of my favourites is to make a hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles on top. Now, the thing is we use full-fat milk and we enjoy the whipped cream. We put the fat into our hot drink and it is very indulgent. We also enjoy food such as buttered chicken and chicken mornay; for example, beautiful curry with lots of butter.”
